Our AWE Opening Ceremony was kick-started with an enthusiastic shout out from “AWE” the participants in the room. This awesome event brought together a hundred passionate individuals at the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC). The energy in the room was palpable, and it was a fantastic way to kick off our journey together!
The event commenced with the welcome remark of Lena Wong, Program Director of AWE Hong Kong and Managing Director of Womentors Limited in sharing entrepreneurial spirit with the audiences and how Womentors as local implementer of AWE Hong Kong can support female founders.
Engaging opening remarks followed from David Schlaefer, Acting Consul General, U.S. Consulate General Hong Kong & Macau, and Lareina Wang, Head of SME Banking, Institutional Banking Group, DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. Their words reinforced the significance of collaboration and innovation in fostering a thriving startup ecosystem.
Our panelists, Natalie Chow, Co-founder of KIBO, and Grace Cheng, Founder & CEO of Agewhale, captivated the audience as they shared their unique startup journeys through a female lens. Their stories of challenges and triumphs inspired many and sparked meaningful discussions about the role of women in entrepreneurship. We were also fortunate to have Bradford Chan, Startup Success Manager of Google Cloud, to share insights on how the tech giant is actively supporting female startup founders. The session was expertly moderated by Genevieve Hilton, Sustainability and corporate affairs professional - Asia Pacific, who facilitated a thought-provoking dialogue that resonated with all attendees.
One of the highlights of the evening was the mixer, where we were delighted to see both new and familiar faces connecting and networking. It’s always wonderful to witness the community come together, sharing ideas and building relationships that will last well beyond the event.
